John Deere harvesting & spraying at Cereals 2008

A range of John Deere technology for combining, spraying and coppice harvesting can be seen at the Cereals event for the first time.

The John Deere stand features the 400hp T670i and C670i combines and the top of the range 530hp S690i model, equipped with a 9.1m (30ft) Premium Flow cutting platform, all featuring the complete range of ‘intelligent’ harvesting technology. These i Series machines are equipped as standard with HarvestSmart automatic feedrate control, AutoTrac assisted steering and Harvest Doc software. The i version combines offer up to 23 per cent more output compared with their non-i equivalents.

John Deere has also introduced a new pressure recirculation system with pneumatic switching of the spray nozzles for the 5430i self-propelled sprayer and all 800i and 800i TF (Twin Fluid) Series trailed sprayers. The system is now being fitted as standard equipment on these models, and is being demonstrated on the 5430i and 832i machines in the sprayers arena.

This new system provides maximum liquid agitation while maintaining high pressures (up to 8 bar) and high flow rates in the spray lines, with the sprayer nozzle bodies incorporating a failsafe ‘air on/spring off’ check valve. This ensures ultra-fast, drip-free nozzle on/off switching and improved spray accuracy, particularly when using the GreenStar SprayerPro control system.

On stand no. 474 in the Arable Outlook area of the show, Coppice Resources Ltd features a John Deere 7500 self-propelled forage harvester fitted with the CRL designed and built short rotation coppice (SRC) header.

Coppice Resources Ltd is the UK's foremost company for planting, managing and harvesting SRC as a primary energy crop. The John Deere forager is being tested this year with the patented harvesting head, which features a new hydraulic system to allow it to be fitted to different makes of forage harvester for the first time.
