Round baler range improved for 2008

568 Multicrop Round Baler A number of improvements and additions have been made to the John Deere round baler range for 2008, to meet the needs of medium to large livestock, arable and mixed farms as well as silage contractors.

Easier maintenance and increased durability are features of the Premium versions of the 582 and 592 variable chamber balers, the 578 fixed chamber baler and the 678 wrapping baler, which are aimed at contractors and large producers.

The Premium variable chamber models feature wide 2.2m RotoFlow or 2.2m MaxiCut precutter pickups, with the powered reverser controlled from the cab. The Premium 578 and 678 balers also have the 2.2m Maxicut pickup available as an option. All Premium balers are available with a roller compressor, which increases productivity by adjusting automatically to any windrow size for a more even feed, and pivoting gauge wheels, for easier turns at the headland without having to raise the pickup.

For medium sized producers, the 568 fixed chamber baler is now available in MultiCrop and Silage Special versions. The 568 MultiCrop is suitable for those who wish to bale silage and hay with a fixed chamber baler, but also want good performance in straw. The front part of the bale chamber on this hybrid model retains the existing design of seven robust rollers, but the rear door now replaces the rollers with a conveyor, which provides improved bale rotation in slick materials such as straw.

592 Premium Round Baler All fixed chamber balers now feature a new netwrap system for improved reliability and easier operation. This new system is compatible with the exclusive John Deere CoverEdge netwrap, allowing the material to enclose the corners of the bale to help improve silage quality. It is now possible to carry three rolls of net under cover on the baler, which is more than enough for a full day’s baling.

The existing 582 and 592 variable chamber models are now available with an improved 2m wide HighFlow pickup or a RotoFlow pickup with powered reverser, both of which also optionally feature the roller compressor and pivoting gauge wheels.
