New six-wheel Gator is faster and more powerful

TH Gator John Deere’s latest addition to the T-Series range of Gator utility vehicles, the new TH 6x4 diesel model, is making its public debut at the 2007 Commercial Vehicle Show. It is faster and more powerful than its predecessor, while also offering improved braking, increased carrying capacity and enhanced operator comfort, especially on rough terrain.

This six-wheel, four-wheel drive vehicle is powered by a new Yanmar 20hp (854cc) Tier 2 low emission diesel engine, which delivers higher forward and reverse speeds up to 20mph. The established continuously variable transmission, which avoids the need for manual gear shifting and clutching, is designed to provide extra power and low-end torque, while also increasing drawbar pull by at least 25 per cent.

Design of the throttle and brake pedals has been improved, and there is more legroom available for both operator and passenger. Ground clearance under the transaxle has also been increased by nearly 50mm (2in). The cargo box can carry up to 544kg on level land, and features a best-in-class loading height of only 63.5cm (25in), while towing capacity and total payload capacity are both 635kg.

John Deere Gators are designed for a wide range of transporting, loading, hauling, dumping and general materials handling duties. They feature a low centre of gravity for extra safety and stability, as well as a good power to weight ratio. Options include a full cab and a road homologation kit.
