New John Deere equipment on show at Punchestown

Several new machines from the ranges launched by John Deere last September are making their Irish show debut at the Farm Machinery Show this week (February 6, 7 and 8, 2007).

John Deere’s new AMS HarvestLab™ dry matter sensor is a unique system designed to fit on the spout of a John Deere 7000 Series self-propelled forage harvester. This near infra-red (NIR) sensor provides an easy to use, fast and reliable method of checking dry matter content in the field and on the move, allowing the operator to view continuously updated moisture and yield information on the cab’s AMS GreenStar display as the harvester moves through the field.

By providing accurate analysis of the silage dry matter content, HarvestLab will allow livestock farmers to know the precise amount of dry matter fed to their animals, resulting in increased yields and improved animal health.

Easier maintenance and increased durability are features of the new Premium versions of the 578 fixed chamber baler and the 678 wrapping baler, which are aimed at contractors and larger livestock producers. The latest 578 baler features a new wider 2.2m Maxicut pickup as standard, and all Premium balers are available with a new roller compressor, which increases productivity by adjusting automatically to any windrow size for a more even feed.

New 30 Series tractors on display include the 220hp 7930, 180hp 7530, 155hp 6930 and 110hp 6330 equipped with a new 3 Series front loader. This latest generation of fuel efficient tractors from John Deere combines new Tier 3 engine technology with Intelligent Power Management, field proven features and numerous ergonomic improvements. The unique Intelligent Power Management system generates extra engine power for pto and transport applications – up to an additional 30hp depending on the model range.
