Heavy duty, high performance materials collection system
John Deere has introduced a new high performance materials collection system for the 24hp X740 two-wheel drive and X748 four-wheel drive diesel lawn tractors. The linkage mounted 580L (low dump) and 580H (high dump) models replace the existing 560C version, and weigh 235 or 300kg respectively.
Designed specifically for heavy-duty commercial applications, this new system will cope with anything from short lush grass to long, heavy, wet grass. The hopper, blower housing and fan are all manufactured from steel rather than plastic, for extra durability.
Standard capacity is 600 litres, although a larger 850 litre capacity version is optionally available for use with the small chassis 2320 23hp and 2520 25hp compact tractors. On the 580H high dump version, which has a lift height of over 1.8m, the container lift, tilt and dump operation is powered by the tractor hydraulics, and controlled from the driver's seat.
An audible fill indicator, also optional, tells the operator when the collector needs emptying. A mechanical lock has been added to avoid the weight of grass forcing the collector lid to open, and the rear of the collector features a service door to make it easier to clear grass away from the screen when necessary.
Ground clearance has been improved to 265mm or 285mm, depending on model, to make it easier to load the tractor/collector combination onto a trailer for transport, and to cope with kerbs and other low obstructions. An optional rear road lighting kit is also available if required.
