Ute winner passionate about green machines
Cropping farmer and agricultural contractor Ewan Powdrell from Wairoa, New Zealand has won a Holden SV6 ute and 100 litres of John Deere oil in the ‘Win a Ute and Oil to Boot’ competition.
John Deere has been supporting New Zealand and Australia for more than 30 years with harvesters, tractors, lawnmowers and everything in between. John Deere also keeps customers’ equipment well lubricated with top-quality John Deere oil products.
Everyone in New Zealand and Australia who bought marked packs of John Deere oil between February and August could enter the competition to win the ute.
Ewan Powdrell’s winning entry was for 205 litres of Hy-Gard hydraulic and transmission oil, purchased from his John Deere dealer, BayQuip Agricultural Ltd in Gisborne. He received the keys for his new wheels on September 14th at BayQuip Agricultural’s premises.
“We’ve been buying John Deere oils for 10 years and it’s a great product,” said Ewan Powdrell. “We’re stoked to win the ute. It’s great to see John Deere giving back to those of us who buy their gear.”
Ewan Powdrell is a fifth generation pastoral farmer. His father Rowley began the cropping side of business in the 1970s and then contracting in the late 1980s.
“When I first started looking into it I did my research and saw that all successful contractors had John Deere tractors,” said Rowley Powdrell.
The father and son team now has many John Deere tractors, planters and harvesters.
They say their relationship with John Deere has remained strong and they receive great products and excellent back up from their Gisborne dealer, BayQuip Agriculture Ltd.
“They’re an hour from us, and I know if we ever have a break down, at any time, they’re always there. These guys are really good,” said Ewan.
The oil is also really good, and Rowley said they use it in everything – across their tractors, trucks, implements and even in the lawn mower.
John Deere North Island customer support manager Ben Suffield said the quality of John Deere oils exceeds all required standards enabling it to be utilised in a huge range of equipment.
“Our engineers know the demands placed on machinery and build oils that optimise that demand. Our testing standards are a benchmark for others in the industry. Nothing else on the market out-performs Hy-Gard oil.”
Ben Suffield was also pleased to have the opportunity to acknowledge loyal customers.
“As market leader with over 170 years of innovation, this has been a great opportunity for John Deere and our dealer network to promote the superior features and benefits provided by John Deere oils.
“At John Deere, we listen intently to our customers’ business needs and spend time with them to understand the challenges they face working the land. This, along with all the other competition prizes, is a great opportunity for us to thank our customers for their support.”
Co-director of BayQuip Agricultural Ltd, Phil Matthews said many customers use the oils for everything including their wife’s car, farm utes, and the boat as well as tractors and trucks.
He was very pleased the ute went to a dedicated John Deere man.
“It’s great that the ute went to someone who uses the machinery, is passionate about the machinery, and has been a loyal follower of the JD product over many years. It couldn’t have gone to a better person and business,” Phil Matthews concluded.
