Teams will soon tee off in one of Australia’s premier sponsored handicap events, the John Deere Trans Tasman Team Championship for 2010, with the opportunity to play in the finals on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Expected to attract more than 200 teams in regional events, players will fight it out for the prize of a trip to compete at Arundel Hills Country Club Golf Course on the Gold Coast. The package on offer includes accommodation, meals during the event and flights from capital cities paid for by John Deere Limited Australia.
This year will mark the event’s tenth year, which began in 2001 in Australia, and expanded to include New Zealand clubs in 2008.
Regional rounds will be played in nine different locations throughout Australia and New Zealand to determine who will battle it out in the final on the Gold Coast.
The John Deere Trans Tasman Team Championship offers clubs an opportunity to foster their club spirit by submitting teams of three to play in local regional qualifying rounds to be held in North Queensland, South East Queensland, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and New Zealand’s North and South Islands.
Teams must consist of a club manager, a course superintendent and a committee member to represent their club in the scramble format event, offering equal opportunity to all players, regardless of expertise, to qualify for the final at Arundel Hills.
Finalists will enjoy a welcome function, practice round, formal dinner, tournament round and presentation ceremony as part of their experience.
With many local events set to get underway in February, clubs should contact their local John Deere Golf & Turf dealer to find out more about the event.
