BOLOGNA, ITALY (December 04, 2006) - On the occasion of this year’s EIMA Trade Fair (15-18 November) in Bologna, Italy, the John Deere 8530 tractor has been recognised with the “Tractor of the Year Award” among as many as seven finalists. The award is sponsored by the Italian magazine “Trattori” in cooperation with other European trade publications from 19 different countries. It recognises the most advanced tractor technology from a readership and customer point of view. The Tractor of the Year Award 2007 edition was handed over to the General Manager of John Deere Italiana, David Colquhoun and John Deere Werke Mannheim Factory Marketing Manager, Remi Hanot by a representative of the International “Tractor of the Year” Jury.

After the Agritechnica (Germany) Gold Medal, the Techagro Grand Prix (Czech Republic), the “Diesel of the Year 2006” (Italy) and the FIMA (Spain) Innovation Award, the “Tractor of the Year” Award 2007 edition is the fifth major European product recognition for 8030 Series tractors obtained within just one year.

“In light of fuel price increases and the growing impact of environmental regulations, juries clearly value improved fuel economy and environmental performance aspects on our machines”, says Graham Thompson, John Deere’s European divisional Marketing Manager for 7030, 8030 and 9020 Series Waterloo tractors. “These awards are also in line with the results of a Nebraska test which we recently conducted on a 8430. According to this test, our 8430 holds the world record for lowest specific fuel consumption among row crop tractors.”
