8030 Series Tractors : Transmission

The 8030 Series tractors now offer two transmission options: the Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) and the proven 16-speed PowerShift Transmission (PST). The choice provides customers a wide selection of features to operate today's advanced equipment, often designed to operate in a narrow speed range. You can go with confidence that John Deere 8030 Series tractors offer a transmission option to cover these speed ranges and provide value and productivity to any operation.

The revolutionary Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT™) provides excellent performance in all farming conditions. The John Deere IVT™ is an easy transmission to use, with simple and intuitive controls allowing you to move smoothly from 50 metres/hr to 42 km/hr.

Never again is a gear too fast or too slow; the IVT™ provides a seamless range of speeds with no gaps. No clutching is required to start or stop the tractor. The footbrake with integrated AutoClutch performs like the brake in a car; simply depress both brakes and the transmission ratios down to a stop from any ground speed.

To keep your 8030 Series tractor stationary even on inclines, use the John Deere-exclusive PowerZero™ feature. The 8030 Series IVT™ offers a choice of two control strategies: a right-hand reverser control and a left-hand reverser control. The IVT™ is not available on the 8030 Series track tractors.

The 8030 Series tractors have taken the field-proven, reliable 16-speed PowerShift transmission and refined it even further. The PST is base equipment on all 8030 Series track tractors and 8130 - 8430 Wheel Tractors. The 8530 is only available with the Infinitely Variable Transmission.

The PST transmission provides full powershifts for on-the-go shifting; no need to stop or clutch when changing gears or shuttle shifting between forward and reverse. The transmission is more interactive with additional inputs from the tractor to determine what adjustments need to be made to the shift parameters to give a good quality shift.

Closed-loop shifting, introduced with the 8030 Series tractors, looks at all the inputs to determine what is happening on the tractor and then chooses from 77 shift tables to determine which one to use to give the best quality shift.
