7020 Series Small Frame Tractors : Engine

Both the all new 6.8L four valve common rail (4V-CR) engine (7720) and the 8.1L high pressure common rail (HPCR) engine (7820 & 7920) use full electronic engine management to give you instant load response under any working conditions, plus efficient fuel use in every situation.

POWERCORE AIR FILTER
  • The all-new PowerCore air filter discharging system provides:
  • 20% higher airflow capacity.
  • Spiral tubes and an aspirator hose vacuums 93% of the dirt and moisture before entering the primary air filter, thus continuous precleaning of the air all year round.
  • Easier service and cleaning of the filter element.
  • Minimised restriction of the air stream to the radiator.

DUAL TEMPERATURE COOLING
  • To improve the cooling capacity of the PowerTech engines, John Deere introduces the revolutionary dual temperature cooling system.
  • This feature of the 7020 Series tractors provides decentralised, maintenance-free heat exchangers, giving highly efficient cooling and reducing maintenance time and cost.

CHARGE AIR COOLER
  • The charge air cooler is an integrated part of the dual temperature cooling system. (Fitted to models 7320-7520)
  • It is designed to cool the hot, compressed air out of the turbocharger (160
  • This significantly improves the airflow to the cylinder head and increases the oxygen content of the air, which helps to improve the mixing of fuel and air so that the combustion process is cleaner (less emissions) and more efficient (less fuel).

DUAL TEMPERATURE RADIATOR
  • The radiator and the fan diameter has been increased to 600 mm for increased cooling capacity.
  • The radiator consists of two parts:
  • A high temperature section in the rear is used for cooling the engine.
  • A low temperature section in the front is used for cooling the charge air cooler and transmission/hydraulic oil cooler.

VISCOUS DRIVE FAN
  • The viscous fan drive significantly reduces parasitic power losses and saves fuel.
  • The temperature of the air passing through the radiator regulates the variable viscous fan drive speed between 1000 and 2300 rpm (depending on 7020 Series model) when the engine is running at rated speed.
  • The blade design has also been altered to ''cup'' or ''hook'' the air through faster, resulting in a 20% increase in cooling performance.
