90 Series Openers

1895 SFP Air Drill Openers

No-till, mini-till and conventional-till.

John Deere have an opener that works effectively in all three types of conditions.

It's the 90 Series Opener, and it's found only on John Deere seeding tools, the 1890 No-till Air-Drill, the 1890CCS, the 1895 Separate Fertilizer placement Air Drill, the 1690 Soybean Special, the 1690CCS, and the 1590 No-till Drill.

FEATURES:

  • 45.7 cm (18 In). single disk flat blade mounted on hub with sealed non-greasable double row bearings
  • The disc is mounted at a 7 degree angle for aggressive action in high-residue fields.
  • Up to 181 Kg (400 lbs.) of down pressure provide consistent down-force in tough fields.
  • Patented active hydraulic down force maintains that penetration pressure by allowing the hydraulic cylinders to extend or retract in response to changing terrain.

Depth Control

The consistent depth control these openers deliver is accomplished with a 114 x 406 mm (4.5 x 16 inch) semi-pneumatic gauge wheels.

FEATURES:

  • Thirteen 6.0 mm (1/4 inch) adjustments, ranging from 6.0 mm (.25 inch) to 89 mm (3.5 inches) let you set the depth you need for your crop.
  • Choose either a smooth plastic hub for less soil disturbance, or steel-rim gauge wheels for no-till applications.

Seed Boot.

A one-piece seedboot is made of cast iron for durability. It's spring-loaded against the disc blade to help ensure accurate seed placement.

FEATURES:

  • A nylon seed deflector keeps seed at the bottom of the furrow to enhance seed-to-soil contact.
  • An optional Chrome Alloy deflector is also available for extended life span.

Furrow Press Wheel

To boost seed germination, a 25 x 254 mm (1 x 10 inch) press wheel firms seed into the bottom of the furrow.

FEATURES:

  • The wheel is made of rubber to resist picking up seeds. Plus, adjusting down-pressure from 2.2 to 11 kg (5 to 25 pounds) is is easy as no tools are required. (Available on seed openers only)

Closing Wheels

Since closing the furrow is essential, a 25 x 304 mm (1 x 12 inch) cast closing wheel trails behind the press wheel.

FEATURES:

  • The closing wheel can be adjusted to run on top of the furrow or parallel to it's side.
  • Three different settings let you add from 12 to 19.5 kg (26 to 43 lbs) of down pressure. (Optional on fertilizer openers for 1895).
