The unique design of the 1870 allows for very minimal soil disturbance. Combining inline and separate, adjustable seed placement with side-banded fertiliser provides precision depth control and seed and fertiliser placement.

Hydraulic shanks are the workhorses of 1870 air seeding tools. They provide consistent depth control for enhanced seed placement, resulting in more even emergence and more uniform crop at harvest. The hydraulic shank machine uses a rigid frame for strength and support. The openers are designed to allow independent down force for a more uniform depth across the width of the frame.

Seed and fertiliser separation are not compromised when seeding with the 1870. The Conserva Pak™ design allows for banding fertiliser to 15 cm within the seedbed and up to 11 cm of separation between the seed and fertiliser. The deep fertiliser opener doubles as a tillage tool to shatter the hard pan for improved root development, water infiltration and seed bed warmth.
