7050 Series Self Propelled Forage Harvesters : Precision Agriculture

Precision Agriculture provides a management concept that analyses the field, crop, and soil in specific areas. Utilising equipment such as yield sensors and monitors, global positioning systems, and computers, you are able to collect specific data that will lead to better business decisions.

Harvest Monitor™

Harvest Monitor™

Harvest Monitor™ uses the GreenStar™ 2 display which allows you to view a wide variety of information, including productivity, throughput, total area harvested, total crop mass harvested, yield, and moisture.

The Harvest Monitor™ system calculates tonnage harvested through the use of a mass-flow sensor that measures the amount of material passing through the feedrolls. Moisture information from the HarvestLab™ Sensor is then used to determine the actual tonnage of material processed, in both actual tonnage and dry matter tonnage. Field tests have shown this system to be extremely accurate.

Automatic Length of Cut adjustment (AutoLOC™)

AutoLOC™ adjusts the cutting size of silage material according to the moisture content measured on-the-go by HarvestLab™. This feature is an added benefit to John Deere self-propelled forage harvesters when used with HarvestLab™. AutoLOC™ helps to enhance silage preservation by improving particle packing and optimising density in storage facilities. Also, by adjusting length-of-cut based on moisture, effective fibre length will be more consistent, thus improving the nutritional value of the silage.

RowTrak™ II Guidance (for Maize only)

RowTrak™ II Guidance System

RowTrak™ II is a guidance system which facilitates your work without using the GPS system. It helps you to achieve higher operating speeds day and night, increasing your performance. It will also help to increase productivity as you can give your full attention to the header and spout. The RowTrak™ II Guidance system automatically steers the rear wheels of the forage harvester to follow the rows, helping to reduce operator fatigue.

Two feelers mounted on the maize header permanently monitor the position of the header by following the maize stalks. Information feeding back from the feelers and steering via a new wheel angle sensor is provided to the electronic system controller. This controller manages the flow valve and the left and right steering valve in order to actuate the rear steering cylinders.

RowTrak™ II can be manually overridden by turning the steering wheel. Row guidance control will be adapted to the ground speed of the harvester. Steering response becomes quicker with increasing machine speed. Automatic steering will be deactivated when the ground speed exceeds a certain limit or if no crop is sensed for a certain period of time.
