7050 Series Self Propelled Forage Harvesters : Cutterhead

Cutterhead

cutterhead

The cutterhead harvests crops with ease, efficiency and precision, owing to its robust structure, range of knives and knife holder construction, sharpening mechanism, cutterhead band and chute design.

A reinforced structure for best performance

A strong, welded structure provides the cutterhead with stability and perfect dynamic balance. Together, the 12mm thick steel plate, solid shaft and reinforced drum help equipment to withstand higher loads to ensure a constant rotation speed, minimise belt wear and reduce fuel consumption.

Knife holders for perfect crop flow

The knife holder is a vital component of the cutterhead, it provides reinforcement to the cutterhead drum, supports knives and allows knives to retract in extreme conditions.

Segment knives for an efficient chop

Segment knives are an efficient way to cut crop. They are made to retract when hit by an obstacle and minimise damage which results in expense. The other reason is, it is easy to replace and adjust knives, which in turn saves you time and money.

Different knives to match all conditions

There are a range of knives to suit your application, straight grass knives, wide, curved maize knives and angled, wide maize knives. The straight grass knife offers a durable cutting edge and stays sharp in abrasive conditions. While the wide, curved maize knife provides a slim cutting edge, requires less cutting power and eliminates uncut material. If you want the same advantages of the wide, curved maize knife, but with more flexibility, perhaps the angled, wide maize knife is the option for you. You can mount the angled, wide maize knife on the same holder as the straight knife.

Different shearbars for all applications

Accurate shearbar adjustment plays an important role in the efficiency and quality of the cut. The adjustment of the shearbar is automatically managed from the cab. There are three shearbars to suit the most common applications, a grass shearbar, maize shearbar and universal shearbar.

Knife sharpening for the best quality cut

To obtain the best quality cut, sharpen the cutterhead knives with your field and crop in mind. The sharpening system lets you open and close the cutterhead cover automatically right from the cab. Sharper knives reduce your power requirements, fuel consumption and increase the quality of cut.

Crop chute designed for efficient crop flow

Cropflow is optimised through the use of an adjustable cutterhead band. Its purpose is to push and guide the crop in the chute and into the accelerator continuously and efficiently. With the assistance of the lateral wedges at the end of the band and a specially designed curved chute, crop is better guided into the channel. There are two types of chutes you can choose from, standard steel chute and DOCOL chute for abrasive conditions.
