Cotton Harvesters : Productive Features

Height Sensing

Automatic height sensing valves, on the 9970 Cotton Pickers, direct hydraulic oil to unit lift cylinders to help maintain constant picking at a pre-determined height. The sensing shoes can be easily adjusted to the desired picking height enabling operators to pick those low-hanging bolls.

Electronic row-unit height control, available with 9996 Cotton Pickers, allows operators to adjust both the height and sensitivity ‘on-the-go’ from the comfort of the cab. Each row unit has a hydraulic valve operated by a solenoid that is tied into the height sensing shoe.

Optional Row-Trak™ Guidance Systems

Available on 9996 Cotton Pickers

To maximise picking efficiency and reduce operator fatigue, the Row-Trak™ row guidance system is available. It is designed to keep the picker aligned on the row for 'hands-off' operation.

Optional Row-Trak™ Guidance System The Row-Trak™ guidance system utilises a probe assembly that mounts to the row unit. The probe assembly runs on both sides of the row. A centre pivot allows side-to-side movement of the probe as it follows the row, activating an electronic sensor that sends a signal to the controller.

The feedback sensor mounts to the steering arm on the guide axle and sends a signal to the system controller so it is aware of how far the guide wheels are turned and in what direction.

The system controller monitors the inputs from the probe and feedback sensor and sends a signal to the hydraulic manifold. The main function of the controller is to monitor the input signal from the probe sensor and the feedback sensor and send output signals to the hydraulic manifold to adjust the steering system.

The hydraulic manifold assembly receives signals from the systems controller, locks out the steering wheel, and locks in the proportional directional control valve when the system is activated. It also signals the controller immediately when the operator turns the steering wheel to regain manual control. The manifold assembly mounts under the cab.
