70 Series STS Combine Harvesters : Cleaning System

Enhanced DynaFlo™ II Cleaning

The DynaFlo II™ cleaning system on STS Combines makes it easier to clean grain. This system provides the capacity to match the high throughput of the STS threshing and separation.

Standard on 9570 STS, 9670 STS and 9770 STS combines, the DynaFlo II™ cleaning system pushes air through a one-piece, raised front chaffer. Air chute agitators help eliminate hair-pinning and bridging inside the air ducts, giving you cleaner samples in all crops.

Meanwhile, high-volume, high-velocity air flow is spread evenly across the width of the shoe. This high air flow keeps the crop moving smoothly through the system, and helps reduce tailings returns.

70 Series Combine Harvesters - DynaFlo™ II Cleaning System

The new DynaFlo II™ system, with increased cleaning capacity (standard on the 9870 STS combines), now offers a 15 percent boost in cleaning capacity, more aggressive sieve stroke and a higher fan speed.

With three simple settings on the Dyna-Flo II™ system (cleaning fan speed, main chaffer, and sieve), it is easy to adjust from one crop to the next. Adjustments can be made manually from the operator's armrest console or at ground level located on the left-hand side of the combine.

Cleaning Fan Speed
  • The 12-blade scroll-type fan blows a high-volume of air across the full width of the cleaning shoe.
  • The 9870 STS distributes 30% of the high-velocity air flow to the front chaffer, while the remainder flows to the primary chaffer and sieve.
  • Fan speeds ranging from 620 rpm to 1250 rpm are designed to match the air volume to the crop and conditions resulting in clean-grain tank sample.
  • Also available is a cleaning fan slow-down bundle (250 rpm to 600 rpm) for harvesting very lightweight specialty crops such as grass seed.

Air Chutes
  • The air chutes allow the cleaning shoe to have less air restriction, especially when operating the chopper in the low-speed mode. The improved airflow provided by the air chutes also may help enhance grain tank quality and help reduce feederhouse dust exhaust.
  • Air exhaust chute agitators will be included in base equipment for all STS combines, to prevent crop material plugging the chutes. Keeping the chutes clear prevents air pressure build-up in the cleaning shoe, ensuring good airflow through the sieve and chaffer for efficient and effective removal of chaff for cleaner grain tank samples and maximum capacity.
  • The air chute agitator is a small rubber flap that bolts to the chaffer frame inside the air chute. The agitator moves up and down inside the chute with the fore/aft motion of the cleaning shoe to move material through the chute.

Increased Sieve Stroke
  • The sieve stroke has been increased on the 70 Series STS (up to 28% on the 9870 STS). This improves the sieve performance in all crops.
  • Repositioning the location of the pitman arm in relation to the swinger arm creates more aggressive sieve action, thus improving the cleaning performance of the sieve.

Self-Levelling Cleaning System

Self-Levelling Shoe

And if you harvest on sidehills in corn country, you'll be interested in the new Self-Levelling Cleaning Shoe. This exclusive system maintains the combines cleaning capacity when harvesting on sloping terrain to minimise harvest loss and maintain level-land productivity.

  • The chaffer bays tilt from the level position +/- 16 degrees and the sieve bays +/-10 degrees, the largest tilt in the industry.
  • Four individual chaffer and sieve bays, provide better control and handling of the grain on slopes.
  • An exclusive overcompensating system distributes the grain over the full area of the bays for better, faster separation, as well as maximum grain savings.
