Ag Management Solutions : GreenStar™ Common Components

The GreenStar™ common components (GreenStar Display, Mobile Processor, and StarFire™ iTC position receiver) are a set of three mobile components that can be moved from machine to machine quickly and easily. Most operations require an operator to move from system to system, but with the GreenStar™ System operators move from machine to machine and the system moves with them. By utilising the same three common components operators become very aware of how the system works and is utilised. This helps operators easily setup, reprogram, and operate the system, no matter the task.

GreenStar™ Display
Ag Management Solutions - GreenStar™ common components. The GreenStar™ Display is like a computer monitor. It has a simple, easy to follow screen with menu driven commands that allow operators to program information quickly. The display area allows viewable operational data while on the go and utilises audible tones to guide or alert users while operating the machine. This same display is utilised throughout an operation whether in the combine, tractor, sprayer, or Gator™ utility vehicle.

Mobile Processor
The Mobile Processor is the brain of the GreenStar™ System. This mobile computer attaches to the back of the GreenStar™ Display. It logs information such as, farm, field, crop, and positioning information to a PCMCIA Data Storage Card (PC Card). This card holds up to 800 hours of data (enough for a whole season for many growers). Unloading the information that is stored to the PC Card is simple with the Auto-Unload feature in Apex Farm Management Software. The processor also reads the KeyCard software for applications such as GreenStar™ AutoTrac™, Parallel Tracking, Field Doc™, and Map Based Prescriptions.

New StarFire™ iTC Position Receiver
StarFire™ Position Receiver

The StarFire™ iTC Receiver is the first in the industry to combine dual-frequency GPS technology with terrain-compensation functionality. The StarFire™ iTC Receiver utilises a 12-channel engine to pick up signals from the Global Positioning System satellites and from the John Deere differential correction network. Using these signals, the StarFire™ receiver can pinpoint it’s location with exceptional accuracy. Moving the receiver from one machine to another is simple with the John Deere quick attach brackets.

The StarFire™ iTC can be used in place of a traditional ground speed radar. StarFire™ iTC can supply an accurate speed signal, unaffected by moving field residue, to your rate controllers. The StarFire™ iTC along with a RS232 adapter harness can eliminate your need for an additional add-on speed radar.

John Deere StarFire™ Network Signal Options

The SF2 differential correction signal is available in 3, 6, or 12-month subscriptions.  Also, for those producers that use their original StarFire or StarFire iTC receiver throughout the growing season, a 2-year or 3-year purchase option is offered with a significant savings over the 1-year price.  These subscription options are available for the North American and Australian/ New Zealand regions of the world.

The StarFire™ Network is owned and maintained by John Deere, ensuring that customer needs are always at the forefront.

  • SF1 delivers a reliable signal for Parallel Tracking, documentation and yield mapping customers.
  • SF2 delivers pass-to-pass accuracy of +/- 10 centimetres, 95% of the time, in a 15-minute period of time.  Needed for use with GreenStar AutoTrac and recommended for Parallel Tracking.
  • StarFire™ RTK delivers sub-2.5 centimetre accuracy when measured at the receiver and eliminates nearly all GPS drift, delivering the repeatability that a satellite-based differential correction signal cannot achieve.  Excellent for AutoTrac™ applications where GPS drift is not tolerable, such as strip till, drip tape, and bedded crop applications.
